Kiwi can

L.I To Learn Resilience and Emotions

Theme
Our Theme is Resilience. Resilience means doing the right.


Topic 
Our Topic is Emotions,. Emotion are feeling that infect yourself.

Activity 
Our activity was Emotion Charades   for this game we had to be in groups and our kiwi can teacher will give us an act we have act it then we had to show the class.The difficult about this game is that we had to show them and not tell them.
They have to try and guess the emotional and the act.
Our act was on a roller coaster at Rainbow End


Energiser  Do you feel it. 
We played Do you feel it our kiwi can teacher will give us a challenge the challenge were to half-five people, Hold your breath for 5 seconds, To do a blank with  10 seconds,20 seconds and 60 seconds. Next we had tell our kiwi can teacher our emotional when we did the challenge and tell our kiwi can teacher why.

Motat

LI.To learn about STEAM


We went to MOTAT which was a really big museum with interesting.
We saw a fire station with a firetruck used back in the days. We even saw a telecommunication exhibit with dial phones, and stuff like Morse codes. We then saw a car exhibit and saw a supercar, a car that Queen Elizabeth 2nd used, and saw car engines. Next we saw a old village with a classroom, church, workshop.

When we finished looking around we firstly made an electric car! We first had to make the body of the car using cardboard. The he engine was a motor and a fan. The wheels were small wheels, and a skewer. We then had to connect the parts in a way.

Lastly we made a flashlight using some connecting blocks. We first had to use the motor again, and connect a LED light to the motor and span a cog to make the light flicker. We then had to use the connecting blocks, cogs, and more to try to keep the LED light on instead of it just flickering.

We were smart searching to find information about netball. We used key words to search up the right site to find good information about these 3 questions.When we found a site we then had to find the keywords in the paragraph.

This term for kiwi can our new theme was resilience and the topic was emotions resilience means not to give up
 and emotions means what you feel or how you act.

Activity
The activity we played was Silent emotion disco this game was about showin
g emotions without talking and that was hard because it was hard for people to understand because
 we had to be silent then we had another activity that was about it was like the same but their was one person wearing
headphones and everyone else had to act like the emotion the teacher said and we can't say the answer we had to be silent
 and act the emotion and then the person with the headphones has to try an answer it when they answer it you have to switch with someone else then on the last part we got a hard one and it was nervous that was hard for us because we couldn't talk and the
 energizer was fun.

Duffy Theatre
















This week we had to Duffy Theatre come to ur school. They taught us about books and how books can solve problems. After we talked about books they did an performance about a little boy called Duffy who visits his cousin called Sam but she didn't spend any time with because she is to busy on the game Magic Bricks. But Duffy did so thing that was very wrong, he put on his grandma's glasses on and he go sucked into the game. His cousin got very confused because she did see her cousin anywhere. Sam just realized that when Duffy put on the glasses and he disappeared. Duffy then told Sam that he was in the game.  Sam he found her grandma's dairy and began to read. Sam's mother came in asked where is Duffy.

L.I to remember basic facts.
Today I have decided to do Basic Facts boxes. Basic Facts Boxes is a google spreadsheet full of basic facts we had to answer all of the boxes.

African drumming

LI: To learn African drumming 


Johnny from Rhythm Interactive taught us four rhythms on the djembe. Johnny taught us by singing and clapping  the rhythms for us to copy.One of the call and return tunes was "I like chocolate cake" "so do I". Johnny teaches a message to children. That message is that together we can make a change.
First we we learnt about the message that he sang to us in the first block. Then we started to learn all the four rhythms that we just finished learning.   


The thing i most enjoyed was learning the message that he teaches to kids and the four rhythms. My favourite rhythm was " I like chocolate cake"  "So do I"


kiwisport/gymnastics

LI. To improve our gymnastics skills.
first we started of with stretches and some other skills. the stehres were straddle,butterfly
wings. one of the skills were when we had to try and touch our nose to our toes then I started off with the bars that was when we had to do pull ups on the bar. Then we end up with a game.

In reading we had to categorise words into groups.
We had to put them in order in the box were it says body parts is were all the body part word go categorise is the groups of similar things.

L.I To identify persuasive texts. Persuasive means to convince or change someone's mind to make someone believe the same as you and we had 5 Different persuasive text they are: a letter an advertisement an article a speech a review

Swimming and water safety

Our first lesson for water safety used to get  into groups and show the instructors  our safety ability. I was put into Livvy's group.
In Livvy's group we practiced in streamline pose.

Today I have done Commenting. The person that I have chosen to comment on is david.David had blogged about his maori.Here is an Image of the comment. 


Hit

LI: To make your heart rate go up.

This week we had done H.I.I.T for Kiwi Sport. We first put our heart monton on then we got started.
We had partners to do our H.I.I.T session, mine was Charlize. Each workout we had a goal to make our heart rates go up to red, so like 86% - 100%. We had done each workout 30s then swap with our partner. We split our sleeves into groups so some people doing one workout and some people doing another, so it is not crowded on that one workout.

Mountain Climbers
So the first rotation was Mountain Climbers, For the Mountain climbers we had go into a front support position and bring your knees to your chest as fast as you can.

Push Ups
For the push up we had to do as many push as we can to get our heart rates up. We could do it on our toes but if that was hard we could do it on our knees.

Pull Ups
So for the pull ups we had a bar where we could hold on to and pull up. We had an option of two ways for your hand position, front and back.

Squat Challenge!
Lastly, we had our squat challeng to Big Sally. We had to follow the song so if it said " Big Sally up" we need to go up and " Bring sally down.

Basic facts

LI:To remember my basic maths facts.

Today I decided to do addition just so I can get faster. I did up to 5 just for a start but next time I do it I'm going to do up to 10 or 20. I took a screenshot of my proof just for people to know.

Inquiry

L.I:to know the planets in different types of languages

This week for inquiry we had our last session with our inquiry groups.
Earth and Beyond L.I To activate our prior knowledge.
Planet Jigsaw -L.I To find,Select and Record  word facts then share and discus collaboratively to build a complete jigsaw.

This Term for Inquiry we had to blog all of the task we have be doing from the past few weeks.
The past few weeks we did Earth and Beyond/Planet Jigsaw,English and Hindi .

Earth and Beyond :  
For Earth and Beyond we had to use our knowledge and answer the question. The questions were about space and our solar System. We had to go on Auto Draw and we had to draw the planet. 

Planets In the solar System :  
For this task we had to make a slide presentation about the planets. We also had to chose a language to translate the planet names. Our inquiry teacher said that we can do any language so we picked The Hindi Language because one person from our team group for the task speak Hindi. So we chose Hindi.

Planet Jigsaw :     
This task we had to learnt about the planets and to learn all the planets like i learnt that earth take 363 days to orbit the sun. 

Writing

LI. To write meaningful information and explain visually.
This week we were writing a information report about Dinosaurs. We chose Dion E Dion S and
Dion T.
Dion T stand for Triceratops
Dion E stand for Euoplocephalus and
Dino S stand for Sauropelta  

Maori

LI.To learn about Te reo
For maori we watched a legend of Taine there were 3 baskets and what was in it.
All of Taine's brothers didn't like the dark so they made a vote all of the brothers accept Taine vcted.
so when the mother and father was spilt Taine wanted light he was given a 3 baskets.In the first one there was the stars In the second one there was the moon in the last basket there was the sun. Taine
when out in a waka he when to put up the stars he was so happy he done a haka and he kicked over the basket so he left it like that was nothing.

Maori

LI. To state our likes in te reo
For Te reo we were watching a video about Puanga. People in New Plymouth celebrate Puanga because it's the closest place to see Puanga. We also made a poster of what we like but the translation was in Maori.

For a example in english it is I like rugby. 
In maori its He pai ahau kaitīkape.

Reading

LI. skim and scan
This week we had to make a constellation for reading. The materials we used was marshmallows and kebab sticks A constellation is a group of stars like cassiopeia and there are many other famous group of stars     
   

Kiwi can

LI To pacap our learning for this term.

First for kiwi can we recaped on on some stuff we did on this term.
The stuff we recaped on was

  • Integrity: Doing the right thing when no one is looking
  • Honesty: telling the truth all the time 
  • Reliability: To be trustworthy 
  • Responsibility: To take good care of your things
After that we ended up playing games. The games we played was octopus and invisible    
 touch. So first we started of with invisible touch It was T - shirt vs jumper and my team won my team was the T - shirt side. Then we did octopus when we played I almost slipped. We all enjoyed the games but we had to go back to the classroom and we also got a lollipop when we left
