Key Competencies

LI: To compare the Key Competencies we think we will use on camp and the Key Competencies we actually used.

Before we went to camp our challenge was to think about when we might use the Key Competencies as we faced the challenges.  When we came back from camp we looked at this and compared how we thought we would use the Key Competencies and how we actually used them.

I found this activity fun because I got to see my old and new reflextion

Camp Brochure

LI: To create a brochure that informs people about Kokako Lodge

In our activity groups for camp, we created an inside and outside brochure to advertise Kokako Lodge. We included distance between Auckland to Kokako Lodge, information about the activities, photos of student experience, catering and cabins.

They provide free beds and have various activities to do and challenge yourself with. There are 6 cabins that hold up to 14 people, which is almost definitely capable of holding multiple crowds of people.

We focused on providing information that sells Kokako Lodge, which means it catches people’s interest and makes them want to stay there.

We enjoyed creating this brochure and being able to test our creativity with advertising and comprehension skills.

Camp Collage

LI. To create a collage using some of the photos from camp.

The photos that was used in the DLO was taken from camp. Each and one of them were from diffrent activities. There were high beam, archery, kayaking, raft building, great pancake race and camp cooking. In each photo was me, this collage represents the memories I had at camp and reminds me of the fun things we did there at Kokako Lodge.

Exploring the Water

LI. To inform others about a certain 5 minutes of camp

Activity group 2 went down to the Hunua falls. At Hunua ranges we saw the waterfall. I was so terrified looking at the waterfall crashing down on the rocks. The activity was our choice, our challenge. We walked down the path to our challenge.

“Click” the helmet fits perfectly on my head. Another “Click” came about as I put my life jacket on perfectly. I was ready to take on my challenge. I was going to kayak on the water and overcome my fear. “Go Texas!” my group said encouragingly. I felt a sense of relief with my group behind my back.

I grabbed my paddle, my hands were shaking, my body wet from the life jacket used by the previous group. “You can do this texas” I thought, I gained up all of my courage, ‘splash’ one side of the paddle went in the water. Another “splash” came as the other side of the paddle went down in the water. As I kept paddling I got the hang of it and I felt great about it.
