Reading

LI. To identify vocabulary to summarize the text.

Matariki breakfast. In the book it was about having breakfast with a whole family. The reason why they were having breakfast as a whole family because of Matariki.

We had to find verbs, adjectives and nouns. Verb is an action word. An adjective is a describing word. and a noun is a name of something.

Summarizing is useful because it can give a lot of information about the book. It can also tell you the main point about the story.

Writing

For writing we were learning about information report. A information report is a text. The text is supposed to be about one topic. The structure of an information report is title, introduction, information and an conclusion.

First we had to pick a animal the animal I chose was a tiger. After that there was a google doc full of a information report structure. Example first we wrote about our introduction it was about our animal.
Also our information and our introduction has to be about the same topic.

Questions

A questions can be asked from anyone

Right there: You can point to the answer in the book

Think and search: The answer is in the book but in different places.

Author and you: You can have a think of the question.

On my own: In the book but can you ask anyone because they might of not read the book.

These questions help because it can relate to the book. Like if someone tells you a question and the answer is right in the book you can just point to it and that is a right there question. Because it is in the book and you can see the answer so you don't waste time trying to think of an answer.

The numbers that I practised was ninety. In Maori ninety is pronounced as iwa te kau.

After we had to fill in the list of numbers by translating numbers from english to Maori.

Maths

Subtraction place value is a strategy to subtract easier.

To solve a problem using subtraction place value. First I spit the second number.
Example: 64-21 21=20+1

Next I took away the ones from the number 21. So 64-1=63.

After that I took away the tens. I also use the 63. So 63-20=43

The answer to 64-21 = 43.

Art

Aboriginal art comes from Australia.

The whole point of it is trying to make a story using symbols with paint. First we watched a dreamtime story on how a kangaroo and how its got pouch.

We started off practising on how to do dot painting and using lines. After practising we used dotted lines and normal lines. We started to practice drawing symbols.

The last step was we had to use all the symbols that we wanted to create a story. After that we had to choose an animal from Australia. Next I traced the animal that I choose. The animal I choose was a shark. After tracing the animal we had to fill in our animal with dotted lines or straight lines. We also had to use color so it didn't look like a blank page.

My story was about one day it was a sunny day then one family was hungry so then they went to search for something to eat.

Kiwisport

A set is a skill that you can do when you play volleyball.

The first step is to make sure there feet is in the right place. Their feet should be spaced out. Also have one foot in front.

The second step is that the leg at the back should be bent.

The next step is to have their hands above their head. And also make sure that their hands don't make a gap in between their hands or else the ball will slip right though the gap.

The last step is to push the ball over the net. To do that the person would need to get ready then when the ball comes to the person then they would need to push up with their hands and their legs.

One property for light is that light travels in one direction. When the light was shined into the slit and came out in one line

Another property is that light can reflect off things like a mirror. When light shined on a mirror the light reflected off the mirror but in one direction.

Light can also be blocked by opaque objects like a box. When light was shined on something that was opaque, the opaque block blocked the light from shining.
