Originally there were no people in New Zealand the first people to settle in New Zealand come in a series of waka.
The first ten waka named Kurahaupō,Tainui,Mataatua,Tākitimu,Ārai-te-uru,Te Arawa,Te Arawa,Tokomaru,Horouta,Uruao
Most of the waka visited the North Island. Some of the places the waka landed at were.
Te Awanui,Tauranga Moana and Waiapu River.
The ten waka came to New Zealand to discover new lands for people to live.
